Full Frontal Battlestar Galactica
Last night I watched the direct to DVD follow-up movie to Battlestar Galactica called The Plan. It was an interesting back fill story which shows alternative views to many of the events from the first two seasons starting shortly before the attack on the 12 Colonies. There's not much new info but it is great to see how Brothers Cavil's "Plan" hits one snag after another. Since it is a direct to DVD movie, there is some nudity. First we see the boobies from the stripper/bartender on Picon as Ellen meets Brother Cavil shortly before the attack. Later there's a most gratuitous hot Galactica bathroom scene with a hot naked ass and a full frontal shot of the same extra with very nice bait and tackle. But the attack on the 12 Colonies is the best part of the movie. We get to see more of the planets before they are engulfed in flames. So overall I give the movie a thumbs up. Get it now.Labels: Battlestar Galactica

Battlestar is Running Out
There are very few episodes of Battlestar left. They need to start wrapping things up soon. There are a few really big questions to be resolved:1) Starbuck's story. She's supposed to lead humanity to its doom. But she has already died and come back from the dead. What's the deal here? I think this week we got a clue to her background. She had a vision of her father and I think he was Daniel, the number seven Cylon killed by Cavil. I think that makes a good conclusion.
2) The Importance of Being Hera. This poor little girl has been bounced around since her birth and fake death. Now Cavil and Boomer pulled off a very clever kidnapping and she's gone again. The next adventure is tracking her down and bringing her home. She will bring Hope and Change just like Obama.
3) A Perfect Place to Live. Planet Seattle Winter aka New Caprica kinda sucked even before the Cylons showed up. Of course before that they need to end the war with the bad Cylons.
4) Galactica's Disintegration. The ship is falling apart faster than a McMansion made by The Bluth Corporation. I think the Cylon hair gel came a little too late.
Only three episodes left.

Battlestar Galactica's last gasp

Battlestar is finally finishing it's last season starting tonight. The final ten episodes were held back after the Writer's Strike delayed the season. They didn't want to compete with the fall season and fall sports for some reason. This show has been exceptionally good in both individual production quality and story, but also in episodic arcs and long term character development.
The problem with a show that has a destination such as "We want to get off the island" or "We need to find our way home" or in this case "We want to find Earth" is that once you achieve that the show is over and if they don't it kind of spoils the entire series. ST:Voyager ended well with the return to Earth. Quantum Leap slipped into oblivion when Sam never made it home. But Battlestar surprised twice at the mid season finale last year. First by actually finding Earth with half a season still to go. But also by finding a dead and empty planet. Tonight promises to reveal the identity of the final Cylon. I've managed to avoid spoilers so I have no clue. I'm hoping for Billy or Gaeta.

In Space, Everyone is Really Hot
Battlestar Galactica returns tonight for it's fourth and final season. The good news is they will tie up all the storyline and find Earth this season. The bad news is they are only showing ten episodes in this block and episodes 11-20 have not yet been scheduled. We can hope for the fall but who knows. Season 3 was amazing. We ended with the acquittal of Gais Baltar, the revelation that four characters were in fact Cylons, the advancing of several Cylon base ships, and the not unexpected return from the dead of Starbuck. If that wasn't enough to love this show, almost everyone on the show is extremely hot.
The hottest man in Sci Fi is Sam Anders, Starbuck's estranged husband. I'm completely in love with him. He's tall and ripped and gorgeous. The best thing is the fact that he's a Cylon. That means if he dies, he will be back. The second hottest man in Sci Fi is Lee "Apollo" Adama. He is one of those people who is so good looking it's not fair to the rest of the us.
I don't know what to expect from season 4 but I know it will be great. I've been looking forward to this for over a year now. I die a little inside each week there's no new episode. The return is a little fountain of youth in my life. At least for ten weeks.

Razor
The long wait between season 3 and 4 of Battlestar Galactica is a little easier with the new BSG movie premiering on Saturday. Battlestar Galactica: Razor tells three stories. I had heard it was going to be just the story of the Pegasus in the early months of the war before it joined the fleet. I'm interested to see how they discovered Gina was a Cylon. I'm still not clear how anyone figured that one out. There are two more stories weaved into that one, one in the past with young Adama, and one with Apollo.
I think the Apollo story might be a stretch, but anything with Jamie Bamber is OK by me. More shirtless locker rooms scenes please! I attached the photo purely for my own happiness.Season four continues in April. Ugh, what if I get hit by a car before then?

Battlestar to end after 4th season
Two of the stars of Battlestar Galactica (Katee Sackhoff and EJO) confirmed that the next season of BSG will most likely be the last. The show is too expensive to keep going with the current viewership. It's sad but the good news is they know it will probably be the last going in. This thwarts the problem with most series finales: the unexpected end. As much as I'd love 5, 7 or 10 seasons, I'd rather have an ended planned out and scheduled. Irregardless, we have to wait until January 2008 for the start of the next season.Labels: Battlestar Galactica
